Whoopi Goldberg's Idea about Kindle...she is on to something...

Whoopi Goldberg is on to something.  She brought it up two days in a row on the View last week, but I am not certain anyone is listening.  She was speaking of the Kindle technology offered by Amazon.com, which is a piece of technology that allows one to download newspapers, books, magazines onto it and it houses all of them.  She believes that every child should have one with their textbooks loaded into it. Think of the impact when it comes to leveling the educational playing field: each child would have direct access to the most current textbook in any given subject, as well as to other resources that could be downloaded, i.e., reference books for term papers, etc.  not to mention the ergonomic effect it would have for a child to not have to carry lots of heavy books, or to feel labeled socially as no one would know how many books you are carrying home to study.  Now those of you who complain about the lack of quality in education, this is your opportunity to step up and support this concept, especially in this election year.  This is one of many steps that must be taken to bring better quality and quantitative education to every child in this country.  I am interested in seeing who would be against this technology being available to everyone and why.  Then you will know who the real enemies are when it comes to changes the public education system sorely needs.
Because I don't think that those in power really want the broken educational system fixed.  Thoughts?

INCONSEQUENTIAL (THROUGH A CHILD’S EYES)

INCONSEQUENTIAL (THROUGH A CHILD’S EYES)

What my truth is

When it’s not yours

Becomes a lie --

Or so you say

And makes me cry.

Whatever you choose not to believe

Is minimized.

Dismissed.

Trivialized.

As you shake your head

Say I’m mistaken

Calling my truth a lie

And it makes me cry.

Your hugs and kisses

For others’ sake.

I can’t believe they’re real

Not fake.

When you make me invisible

Replaced by your new loves.

Wasn’t that your father’s take…

And now your legacy for me?

So why should I bother

To tell you my truth

Only to have you tell me

That I should not believe myself

Because my truth is not yours

And you betray me

Every time.

And I cry.
